Capabilities – Multilingual Capabilities
Results
for Researchâ
, both the CATI and NET versions, were designed with global research in
mind. Our customers from around the world have used Results to
conduct research in over 80 countries using over 40 languages.
- Results'
unique object-oriented Qbase architecture makes it easy for researchers
to create a questionnaire, complete with programming logic, in their
primary language and then have translators edit the text-only portions
of the questionnaire.
- Multiple language
questionnaires can store data in a single response database, at the
same time eliminating the need to manage multiple data files. Because
data is stored in named fields, not card-column positions, data is consistent
from language to language—even if different questions must be asked
in each language or country.
- Word-wrap and scrolling
of long text is automatic. Questionnaire programmers do not need to
format screen-layout from language to language, even when using colors
or including data from previous answers or the sample file in the body
of a question.
- With the optional
multi-lingual module, callers can switch between languages during an
interview, which can be critical with multi-lingual businesses and households,
or where a respondent's language is not known beforehand.
- The multi-language
option also includes support for Double-Byte Character Set (DBCS) languages,
including Japanese, Chinese and Korean. Questionnaires, sample, and
call-dispositions can all display DBCS characters. The browser version
of Results supports any alphabet or font installed in the browser.
- Sample can be routed
to specific interviewers by language or country. Because sample reports
can be easily filtered, call center staff can use them to schedule interviewers
by language.
- Translating open-ended
responses is easy. Because open-ended text responses are stored in a
database, the original text can be kept alongside the translations.
Interviewers or translators can use Results (or any other software
which can open a .DBF file, including MS Word or MS Excel) to translate
open-ended responses.
- International phone
numbers are supported for international dialing. Auto dialers can be
programmed to include or exclude international and country-code digits
or add any additional call-routing information, based upon any number
of criteria which you define.
- International time
zones are supported when calling around the world. Callback and appointment
times are displayed for both local and distant times. Calls across the
International Date Line adjust accordingly. The use of a pop-up calendar
to schedule appointments and call-backs eliminates confusion over date
formatting. Time sensitive greetings functions can be used, e.g., good
afternoon, good morning based on local time.
- Crosstabs and exports
can be run in any language. Single crosstab pages and runs can include
multiple languages.
- The interviewer
codes and instructions can be changed from English to the interviewer's
local language.
- Sample and quotas
can be automatically balanced across countries. Data files from multiple
locations are easily combined, enabling multiple facilities to share
interviewing efforts.
- Results' unique Brand-List questions, which enable interviewers to add coded
entries to a response list during an interview, are ideal for researching
new geographies where all brands and choices may not be known.
- Results CATI
allows multiple remote call centers to conduct multiple interviews in
multiple languages at multiple locations … with all of these centrally
controlled and managed.
